Looking to change the world marathon records, Nike has created the Zoom Vaporfly Elite shoes as part of its Breaking2Project. The Vaporfly Elite is a highly influenced shoe that Nike hopes to help one of the elite marathon athletes use in breaking the two-hour marathon record that is currently set.

The concept shoes are going to be worn by top marathon runners who will take part in the Breaking2 initiative. Running the marathon within two hours is something that Nike is looking to achieve and this is where the Niko Zoom Vaporfly Elite comes into the picture.

The Zoom Papa fly 4% and the Zoom Fly shoe design is similar to the new release, and they are yet the fastest Nike racing shoes, according to Wired. With 3D knitting and cushioning technology accessible today, Nike decided to put their dreams into a reality. To do so, Nike shoe design had to increase the runner's ability or economy to run by 3 to 5 % to achieve the 2-hour target.

The new shoe design by Nike weight around 7 ounces, which is two ounces less than the other Nike's recent sprint she used in the Olympics. The Nike sprinting shoe features an inch-thick sponge sole, which is one that had never been yet seen in the history of the company, according to Wdio.

The primary function of the Zoom Vaporfly Elite shoes mainly relies on the carbon-fiber plate, lightweight, ultrathin feature. These features come together to provide the necessary propel that a runner needs.

The shoes that have been currently released have been customized to suit the runners who are going to attempt running the marathon under two hours. The carbon-fiber plates have been uniquely designed to fit the athletes appropriately.

To make the shoe more efficient, Nike has worked closely with the runner to create a shoe that is unique to the runner's stride, strength, and dimensions. Nike reported that this was one of the difficult stages of the shoe design process.

Meanwhile, the two athletes - Lelisa Desisa and Eliud Kipchoge will try and break the world marathon record and bring down to less than two hours. The current world marathon record is at two hours, two minutes and fifty-seven seconds.
