Andrew Bogut could be in line for another championship ring if he is able to facilitate his release from the Philadelphia 76ers soon. The 32-year-old center is expected to be bought out by the Sixers soon with Philly already packed with big men up front.

Andrew Bogut ended up in Philadelphia following a trade with the Dallas Mavericks for Nerlens Noel. The Sixers don’t have any intention of keeping the high-priced Aussie with several teams waiting in the wings for him to clear waivers. Bogut is expected to get his release before Mar. 1, the last day where free agents can re-sign with playoff bound teams. Bogut’s agent, David Bauman, is handling things with the Sixers before moving on.

The word around is that Bogut prefers to join the Cavaliers who could use a big man right now. Former teammate Deron Williams is expected to sign up soon, with Bogut looming as the final piece of the puzzle for a possible back-to-back NBA title conquest by the Cavs, ESPN reported.

Andrew Bogut actually had the chance to rejoin his former team, the Golden State Warriors, CBS Sports noted. Interest doesn’t seem to be as high as the Cavs so that could be treated more as an alternative. Under NBA rules, a player cannot return to the ‘last’ team that traded or waived him during the same calendar year. In Bogut’s case, the Mavs were his last team. The Houston Rockets is another team reportedly interested in Bogut.

But if the Aussie had his choice, it seems he would prefer Ohia and get a chance at another NBA ring. If ever he does join LeBron James and company, he is likely aware that he may not be fielded in that often. He is expected to be hired as a backup to Tristan Thompson where he may settle for giving out quality minutes. A proven enforcer and rim protector, Bogut should be a steal for Cleveland once he clears waivers.
