NBA Trade 2017 Latest News & Update: Kings, Pacers In Frantic Race For Jahlil Okafor

The NBA trade deadline is nearing and among the big names expected to move is Jahlil Okafor. The Philadelphia 76ers have yet to find a suitable dance partner, but analysts and critics believe that the 20-year-old center will be joining a new ballclub soon.

In recent weeks, Jahlil Okafor has been linked to teams like the Chicago Bulls, Portland Trail Blazers, and the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pelicans can now be stricken out of that list following the deal involving DeMarcus Cousins. However, there are new teams who could join the fray – the Sacramento Kings and the Indiana Pacers. On one end is the Sacramento Kings.

After dealing Cousins and Omri Casspi, head coach Dave Joerger has a team lacking in talent up front. With lots of guards on their end, it makes a bit of sense to trade off some of them to the Sixers. And as most known, Philly is in need of guards and shooters. Tyreke Evans or Langston Galloway could be interested trade bait in exchange for Jahlil Okafor.

It may all boil down to the numbers crunch if the two squads undergo talks. There is no word on that as of this writing so a potential trade could have low chances of materializing, CSN Philly reported. For the Pacers, NBA reporter David Aldridge believes that Jahlil Okafor could be the help Paul George would need. The Pacers have inquired about Jahlil Okafor, but are equally pressed for time.

The Pacers could put the offensive talent of the sophomore to good use with president Larry Bird emphasizing on the up-tempo kind of ball. It takes a load off George who at times needs to play the big. With Okafor, some flexibility could be added if ever a deal gets done. The next question is who the Pacers deal for the 7-footer with the NBA trade deadline technically hours away.
