The Minnesota Timberwolves find themselves in the best situation to finally make the NBA playoffs. But to do that, they may need to add more players to the mix. One name that has surfaced is Iman Shumpert of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rewinding a bit, the T-Wolves did express interest in the forward and there is belief that it may be revived again.

The revived interest on Iman Shumpert was suggested by Sam Amico, citing league sources via Twitter. Seeing how the 26-year-old player is having a good year, it hardly comes as a surprise. But the better question now is will the Cavs bite? There are actually two teams interested in Shumpert, the other of which is New Orleans Pelicans, Cavaliers Nation reported.

Assuming the Cavs decide to move Iman Shumpert, the Timberwolves could offer some they could use. As most know, LeBron James has been going off asking for a backup guard. That request (or demand?) has yet to be satisfied and a player that immediately comes to mind is Ricky Rubio.

Rubio has long been in the rumor mill and the Cavs could fill up that guard void. The problem with the Spaniard is his shooting, though the Cavs have more than enough firepower to go by. Also, the Cavs are undermanned right now so trading away Iman Shumpert could be risky. Already out are Kevin Love and J.R. Smith so dealing at this point is hard to foresee, NESN reported.

Rather than give up Iman Shumpert, the Cavs actually need to get some more bodies on their roster. The NBA postseason wars are fast approaching and the defending champions may pay dearly with few healthy players available. On the other hand, the Timberwolves may not limit their options to the Cavs forward. There could be other players available, preferably a veteran who can help them make the playoffs since 2004 when Kevin Garnett’s career was on the rise.
