NFL 2017 Latest News: Commissioner Roger Goodell Draws Line Following Clown Shirt Row

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is aware that the “Deflategate” saga will continue, including inadvertent swipes both verbally or even through merchandise. On the latter, shirts depicting Goodell as a clown hardly comes as a surprise for as long as they were worn by folks outside the Pats organization.

Unfortunately, defensive coordinator, Matt Patricia seemed to care less and was seen donning the celebrated Goodell Clown shirts after their Super Bowl LI triumph over the Atlanta Falcons in Houston. The choice of apparel reportedly bothered Roger Goodell, compounded by the fact that Pats owner Robert Kraft didn’t even bother to prevent Patricia from wearing it, CBS Sports reported.

Obviously, Patricia is one of many New England followers who were not pleased with the four-game suspension meted to Tom Brady. The 39-year-old quarterback bore the brunt of the “Deflategate” scandal which Goodell pushed for in legal proceedings. The whole issue was a side topic to Super Bowl LI, most hinting out the awkward moment where Goodell would hand Brady and the Patriots the Vince Lombardi trophy, Bleacher Report reported.

The NFL commissioner mentioned before Super Bowl LI that there was nothing awkward about it and technically stressed that it was all part of his job. Unfortunately, not all bought it with the Pats fans obviously still miffed at the four-game suspension. Aside from the clown shirts, the buck didn’t stop there when the Pats celebrated their Super Bowl LI triumph.

Tom Brady was a picture of such when he rode a duck boat wearing a t-shirt that read “Roger that” aided by a picture of five rings (the number of Super Bowl rings Brady now owns). A reconciliation between Goodell and Kraft is possible but only if league counsel Jeff Pash is taken out of the mix. Kraft is not too fond of Pash.
