NFL 2017 Latest News & Update: Vance Joseph Prioritizing Paxton Lynch, Trevor Siemian Over Tony Romo Coming

The Denver Broncos have a long road ahead and new head coach Vance Joseph is fully aware of it. Inheriting a team from the untimely retirement of Gary Kubiak, the defensive coordinator is aware that addressing his quarterback situation is a priority. The Broncos currently have Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch though a possible coming of Tony Romo is still lurking.

Romo is linked to a possible coming to Denver though there will be certain conditions that need to be met. That includes doing away with his current contract and entering via the NFL free agency route. Team owner John Elway has had the knack for taking in veteran quarterbacks but only at a fair price. Looking at Romo’s current contract and longevity, it is something Elway and the Broncos are not ready to take in.

Tony Romo is expected to seek his release from the Dallas Cowboys than request for a trade. If so, that could give the Broncos flexibility in negotiating a new pact. At 36, Romo will likely be dangled a short-term high salary deal. The length of the contract will be interesting since the veteran quarterback has been plagued by injuries the past years.

Aside from the Broncos, there are at least three other teams on Romo’s radar. That includes the Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, and the Kansas City Chiefs, CBS reported. Like the Broncos, these teams are expected to go for a new or restructured deal rather than absorbing the massive contract Romo has until 2019.

While all that is expected to be settled in the offseason, Joseph reaffirmed his commitment to the quarterbacks on the team, ESPN reported. Siemian and Lynch will jockey for starting quarterback position even if they do lack the experience that Tony Romo carries. Anything can change between now and the NFL break – including a Tony Romo entry.
