NFL 2017 Latest News & Update: No Colin Kaepernick Interest For Denver Broncos

By Vaughn Dweebs | Update Date: Feb 13, 2017 11:08 PM EST

The Denver Broncos could do well with a veteran quarterback for as long as his name is not Colin Kaepernick. Despite interest last year, the Super Bowl 50 champions are reportedly not interested this time around on the 29-year-old player. Kaepernick is expected to opt out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers, though nothing has been made official as of this writing.

Colin Kaepernick will clear the air on his NFL plans by Mar. 2, the day when he can officially opt out or stay on with the 49ers. He would have landed in Denver last year, but the controversial native from Wisconsin was not amenable to a pay cut. The decision pushed the Broncos to shift their attention on the NFL Draft, snagging Paxton Lynch, the Denver Post reported.

Also, new coach Vance Joseph set the records straight recently when he re-affirmed his commitment to Lynch and Trevor Siemian. There is also Tony Romo of the Dallas Cowboys, who has been strongly linked to the Broncos. Romo and Broncos team owner John Elway were even seen at the victory party of House Majority leader Kevin McCarthy last month, the NY Post reported.

The Broncos are leading many to believe right now that they will be sticking it out with their young quarterbacks moving forward. Experience is a big question mark and Elway has been known to bank on aging and veteran players to start and mentor upstarts temporarily.

Peyton Manning is one of the success stories for the Broncos before retiring after Super Bowl 50. Romo faces an uncertain future with the Dallas Cowboys with rookie Dak Prescott seen as the new starting quarterback for the Jerry Jones-led team. Much of these are expected to be cleared up in the off-season once NFL teams start preparations for the 2017 NFL season.
