Windows Surface Phone Latest News & Update: Functionality Priority Over Features For Windows 10 Mobile Handset

The Mobile World Congress 2017 is all set towards the end of February and one device that most want to see is the much-heralded Windows Surface Phone. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella already started sparking anticipation in November, something he described as the coming of “the ultimate mobile device”.

For techies, that immediately brings the Windows Surface Phone to mind, Forbes reported. However, most would rather wait and see if it does come out in Barcelona in a couple of weeks. The device is expected to be a high-end device, possibly something that can give Samsung and Apple a run for their money.

Among the speculated featured specs of the Windows Surface Phone include a device running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC 6 GB of RAM, 20 MP main camera, 8 MP front-facing shooter and advanced biometric features (i.e. fingerprint scanning). It may sport a 5.7-inch touch screen display with 2K resolution and of course run on Windows 10 Mobile. Much of this was mentioned in a previous post.

There will reportedly be three variants of the Windows Surface Phone with prices ranging from $699 to $1,100. The price is seen as reasonable by most though the next question is if the Windows Surface Phone serves its functionality and purpose. With most blinded by the high-end specs, the apps and interface are equally important. Windows 10 Mobile is great, but does it have an ample supply of apps that could rank it alongside iOS and Android?

Microsoft hasn’t exactly ramped up its software lineup so this could be a loophole. The Blackberry is a prime example, lacking the necessary apps despite impressive specs, Business Insider reported. For Nadella and company, this could be something worth checking out since functionality is still something consumers would consider when getting a mobile device they can use daily.
