Techies continue to wait on the Microsoft Surface Phone, a device that could possibly debut at the Mobile World Congress 2017. The Redmond company has yet to hint at something official though most believe that it is the right time to come out with a new mobile device since the Lumia 950.

As mentioned in a previous post, the price-drop offer for the Microsoft Lumia 435 was associated with a potential coming of the Microsoft Surface Phone. The device was being offered for only $28.75 over at Walmart, a tempting entry-level device for buyers to consider. But as everyone knows, the Microsoft Surface Phone is expected to be more than an entry-level phone, one that would carry some of the key features of the Microsoft Surface Pro tablet series.

A new patent spotted first by MSPowerUser could ramp up that claim. The Microsoft Surface Pro series has gained prestige for its flexibility, a device that can transform to and from a tablet and a laptop. The spotted patent was filed way back in October 2014, showing a foldable device that can be a smartphone and/or a tablet.

The spotted patent highlighted how the device had a foldable display panel which was large and boast of uninterrupted views via single display. With flexibility in mind, the potential patent for the Microsoft Surface Phone could offer something different from the current line of mobile devices. The shift to foldable display technology has been frequenting headlines, something associated with patents filed by Apple and Samsung for their respective flagships.

The foldable display feature for the Microsoft Surface Phone could be a grand one though the more important thing right now is seeing the device official debut. The MWC 2017 happens in a couple of weeks so the wait could finally be over. Will a Microsoft Surface Phone be among the new gadgets for 2017? Join the poll below.
