WWE Latest News & Updates: Universal Title Could Add More Flavor to Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar At Wrestlemania 33

Bill Goldberg formally accepted the challenge of Brock Lesnar, meaning the two will meet up again at Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando. The “Beast Incarnate” has yet to beat the former WCW/WWE champion with the set match perhaps having nothing more than pride on the line. But then again, there could be a perk if Goldberg is able to wrest the WWE Universal title from Kevin Owens.

Goldberg made the announcement with Owens and Chris Jericho in the ring. Owens was gloating on how he was able to overcome the alleged ‘ridiculous’ matches set by Raw general manager Mick Foley while Jericho took a swipe by adding New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to the list, WWE.com reported. On cue, the background music of Goldberg blared and the 49-year-old formally accepted the challenged.

After that, Goldberg immediately turned his attention on Kevin Owens and his title. He challenged KO for the title at WWE Fastlane which Jericho accepted. The ‘Prized Fighter’ wasn’t too happy with Y2J’s move in what seemed to be a light falling out between the two alleged best friends.

Going back to Goldberg vs. Lesnar, a third match really makes no sense. The former is 2-0 so most feel that a certain perk may be needed. With the Goldberg vs. Kevin Owens title-match at WWE Fastlane, it could set up a possible title-match at Wrestlemania 33 that should change the entire complexion, Wrestle Zone reported.

All this is pure speculation for now with Lesnar more concerned about scoring one over his long-time nemesis. If the title is on the line, Goldberg could fulfill his goal of becoming WWE champion once more but lose it at Wrestlemania 33 to Lesnar. Worth noting here is the contract of Goldberg which could end after Wrestlemania 33. Unless the WWE plans to keep Lesnar long-term, this could be an interesting storyline.
