WWE 2017 Latest News & Updates: Randy Orton Wins 2017 Royal Rumble, John Cena Title-Match Possibly Next

The 2017 edition of the WWE Royal Rumble is a wrap and the winner of the mayhem at the Alamodome in San Antonio is Randy Orton. Orton threw Roman Reigns following a devastating ‘RKO’, allowing him to win his second Royal Rumble. “The Viper” first won in 2009.

Looking ahead, it remains to be seen which title Randy Orton will be challenging for. The easy bet is the WWE SmackDown heavyweight title, now held by John Cena. The 38-year-old wrested the title from AJ Styles in a match prior to the main event battle royal, tying WWE legend Ric Flair with 16 world titles. The “Nature Boy” congratulated the Cenation leader via Twitter, as reported by Fox Sports.

As far as Randy Orton is concerned, there are hanging storylines that need to be cleared. It mostly involves his alliance with BrayWyatt and the conflict he currently has with Luke Harper. Orton and Wyatt hardly showed any hints of a possible turn at the Royal Rumble though Harper may have officially walked away from the Wyatt Family. This was after his attack on the “Eater of Worlds” who ironically got saved by Orton at some point of the battle royal, WWE.com reported.

Harper looms as a nuisance but even more interesting is the role of Bray Wyatt in the mix. The two could still be aligned moving forward though the potential betrayal may surface. WWE SmackDown will have the Elimination Chamber on Feb. 12, something expected to be headlined by Cena. Orton could be one of the participants in the punishing structure unless the creative team cleans out the Wyatt Family storyline first.

A lot of answers to what Randy Orton plans to do are expected to be revealed by Jan. 31 on WWE SmackDown. The WWE title eyed by Orton may be finally known though expect some other stars (i.e. Luke Harper, Bray Wyatt, AJ Styles) to crowd the party.
