WWE 2017 Latest News & Update: AJ Styles Defends John Cena, Weighs In On Part-Time Stars

WWE SmackDown heavyweight champion AJ Styles will be facing John Cena at the Royal Rumble 2017 this Sunday where a lot of heat comes between them. But of course, most know that all of that is for show and the relationship changes outside the ring.

Styles is aware that Cena doesn’t spend as much time on WWE shows like him, but praises him for his work ethic, based on his interview with Fox Sports. Fulfilling his commitment to other shows such as the Today Show and the WWE is something the “Phenomenal One” admires about the 38-year-old star. He also credits Cena for becoming a better performer, apparently because they have both squared off twice in the past.

Come Sunday, it will be interesting if Cena gets one over Styles. Speaking of part-timers, Styles has no problem with it. Rather than join the backlash some have been taking out on guys like Cena, Brock Lesnar and now Bill Goldberg, he believes that all opportunities are equal. He adds that with part-timers, regulars like him get all the chances to hog the spotlight, something that should be beneficial and work to their advantage.

With those words, Styles seemed to care less on what other thought of inequality caused by part-timers, Wrestlezone reported. Aside from his match with Cena, Styles was asked who he thought would be this year’s Royal Rumble 2017 winner. He admits that it will be a tough call though leaves the answer to that to the fans. He is aware that he could possibly end up facing the winner (assuming he retains the title after the Royal Rumble 2017).

AJ Styles could end up facing the Undertaker or even Randy Orton. He is prepared for the inevitable and among the interested onlookers to see who survives the 30-man mayhem this Sunday (Jan. 29) at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
