Pokemon Go Holds Christmas Event: Santa Pikachu Is Coming to Town

Pokemon Go shook the world this year as one of the most promising mobile games. Now, Pokemon Go is back with another event for its fans.

Niantic Labs, the developers of Pokemon Go, attempts to bring back its audience after the recent drop of players from their game. The Christmas event rolls around to give players a festive atmosphere in time for Christmas.  This event lets players have a higher chance of catching the Kanto starters as well as their evolutionary line from December 30 to January 8, 2017. The Pokemon Go Christmas event also lets players catch a special Pikachu out in the field, sporting a Santa hat.

The Christmas event also lets players hatch Togepi and other Pokemon from Pokemon Eggs. Pokestops are also part of the festivities. When spinning the Photo Disc for the first time each day from December 25 to January 3, 2017, players can get an Incubator, which they can use to hatch those Pokemon Eggs. Other Pokemon found in the Johto region are obtainable via Pokemon Eggs.

Aside from the increased rate in finding and hatching Pokemon, the double EXP is back for this event. First experienced during the Halloween Event, double EXP lets players increase their levels every time they defeat gyms or when catching Pokemon. This is a good feat for players who are struggling to level up their avatars. So make use of the EXP bonus when playing Pokemon Go!

The Pokemon Go Christmas event is not the first game event Niantic laid out for their fans. Earlier this year, Pokemon Go held a Halloween event for the fans. The Halloween event lets players catch Ghost-type Pokemon such as Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar at a higher catch rate. There was also the double EXP feature back then for players who want to boost their level at a much faster rate.
