'The Crown' Season 2 Spoilers, Update: Camilla Parker Bowles Details; Claire Foy, Matt Smith Exit Show

Award-winning actress Claire Foy will not return as Queen Elizabeth in "The Crown" Season 2. However, the upcoming installment will include the appearance of Camilla Parker Bowles. Read on for more details.

Considered as the most expensive project for Netflix, it seems that their efforts are truly worth the outcome. Fans and critics lauded the show for its plot and the characters. Several actors including Claire Foy won a few awards for her performance as Britain's most powerful royalty.

Claire Foy, Matt Smith To Leave Show After "The Crown" Season 2

Created by Peter Morgan, the first season of biographical series followed the early years of her reign as the Queen. It also featured her wedding with the Duke of Edinburgh, Philip. Aside from Foy, Matt Smith played the live-action portrayal of Prince Phillip.

According to People Magazine, Foy and Smith will only have one season to play their critically acclaimed characters. The show will then recast their roles for older actors in the future seasons. Foy delved on the issue during the recent BFI and Radio Times Television Festival.

According to her, it was bound to happen since the team already made some plans beyond "The Crown" Season 2. Foy shared that she cannot wait what will happen to her character in the future. She added that “It’s long, a good nine-mouther. And that’s a lot of your life that you sign over to it."

"The Crown" Season 2 Update: Camilla Parker Bowles Appearance

Since the reports of having an elaborate plot for the next two seasons, "The Crown" also add a real-life royalty into the mix. Yahoo! UK reported that Camilla Parker Bowles might join in season 3.

Producer Susanne Mackie teased on the possibility that Prince Charles' current wife will be part of the new storyline. According to her, “Peter’s already talking about the most wonderful things. You start meeting Camilla Parker Bowles in season three."

What Will Happen In "The Crown" Season 2?

Foy and Smith will reprise their original roles again. The second season will start with the ongoing battle between her army against the forces in Egypt. During the same period, it also showed the aftermath of Howard Macmillan's resignation as her third Prime Minister.

"The Crown" Season 2 will also include the arrival of John F. Kennedy and how his presidency affected the Queen's regime. Michael C. Hall and Jodi will play John and Jackie Kennedy. Joining them are Matthew Goode as Tony Armstrong-Jones, Princess Margaret's husband.
