Get ready to watch "Orange is the New Black" star, Laverne Cox in a brand new comedy on ABC titled "The Trustee." Meanwhile, the premiere date for "OITNB" Season 5 has been revealed.

"Orange is the New Black" Actress Laverne Cox To Co-Lead in New Series

Just after a few weeks of her other show getting off the air, it has now been announced that actress Laverne Cox has been cast in a comedy series titled "The Trustee." The actress has an important role in the new ABC series.

Cox will be seen in the role of Amanda Jones, who is a larger-than-life former convict, Variety reported. Amanda will be seen in the process of  completing her sentence in the jail by helping out the cops in their tasks.

Other prominent cast members include Meaghan Rath as Eliza Radley, an obstinate detective, who will get help from unexpected quarters in the form of Amanda. Michael Cudlitz, who is a familiar face, courtesy of "The Walking Dead," will play the role of a bad-tempered cop called Captain Timothy Waits.

The police captain grudgingly respects the unconventional policing methods used by Eliza. Lance Gross, alum of "Sleepy Hollow," will be also featuring in a regular role.

"Orange is the New Black" Star Laverne Cox To Return In Season 5

Last month, Netflix, the streaming giant, had released a teaser for "Orange is the New Black" Season 5. In this promo clip, the prison's inmates were shown in different emotional states after the tragic demise of Poussey (Samira Wiley).

While Cox was not featured in this sneak peek, it is confirmed that she will be part of the upcoming season. She will reprise her character as Sophia Burset. Incidentally, the actress was nominated in the category of "Outstanding Guest Actress" in the Emmys for this role.

In a previous interview given to People, the actress had teased that the entire season will wrap up in only three days. She had also said that season 5 will be juicy for the female inmates of the series.

Fans can watch their favorite "Orange is the New Black" star, Laverne Cox and other cast members when season 5 streams on June 9 in Netflix.
