Huawei has made great strides last year with its line of handsets. At Mobile World Congress 2017, the company unveils the Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus with emphasis on a better camera. Could this be enough to overshadow the fact that Samsung is holding off its new flagships for April?

It may be too early to tell. But like other brands who are taking the opportunity to seize the moment from the market leaders, the Huawei P10/ P10 Plus shifts into high gear with Leica rear camera lenses, a longer-lasting battery, and a fingerprint sensor system, according to AFP (via Tempo.com.ph). Huawei is the third-largest phone maker and is technically pressured to put on a show.

As far as the specs of the Huawei P10, the device boasts a 5.1-inch screen that will run on an Octa-core 2400 MHz, ARM Cortex-A73 and ARM-Cortex A-53 64-bit chipset. It is further supported with 4GB of RAM and 32/ 64 GB of internal storage (expandable via micro SD) priced at $500 and $600 (32 and 64GB storage). There is a premium edition available, offering 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage that costs about $683, Ubergizmo reported.

As far as the Huawei P10 Plus, the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage costs $725, while the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage runs for about $828. It will tote a 5.5-inch dual-edged curved display with other specs practically the same. That includes a 12 MP main camera and 8 MP front-facing camera and bank on a non-removable 3,200 mAh battery.

As far as availability, the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus will be available via Rogers, Bell, Fido and Videotron in Canada. The reason for launching the device in Canada first is reported because Huawei is pushing for a move into Canada’s high-end market, Mobile Syrup reported. There is no word if Huawei will release the Huawei P10 / P10 Plus to the U.S. market for now.
