Civilization VI Update Introduces Poland: Culture Bombing Is Back!

Sid Meier's latest installment for the Civilization series has rolled out an update. Civilization VI will be having lots of DLCs and a brand new country to build up.

Civilization VI rolled out a big update and added new maps and DLCs in their "Winter 2016 Update." The Winter Update spells a bunch of bug fixes, game balancing, and UI fixes. The update added an Earth map, which makes it easier to access the different Scenarios of the game from the main menu. The Winter Update also added new Scenarios as well as a new country to manage, Poland.

Poland, led by Jadwiga is the latest civilization to be added in Civilization VI. Jadwiga is known as the first female ruler of Poland in 1384 until her death in 1399. During her reign, she helped establish marriage and diplomatic affairs, which earned territorial expansion for Poland. Jadwiga's accomplishments in the real life are reflected in Civilization VI. Poland is a religion-based civilization in the game. Poland's unique ability, Golden Liberty, which allows the country to gain additional tiles when they've finished building an encampment inside friendly territories. This is dubbed as "Culture Bombing" since regardless of whether the adjacent tile belongs to another civilization or not, Poland will gain control of it once their Golden Liberty skill is active.

As for their unique unit, the Winged Hussar, is an important factor for Poland's military. The Winged Hussar can push back enemy units, which can help in depending Poland's civilization. The Golden Liberty skill is proved to be useful since Poland is known to spread Poland's established religion to conquered territories. As for Poland's unique structure, the Sukiennice, it gives the civilization bonus Production from foreign trade routes and Gold from internal trades.

Aside from the Poland civilization, there's also the Vikings Scenario Pack. This will give players a chance to play as a dark ruler during the Dark Ages in history in the Vikings Scenario. New cities have been added, reflecting cities from the actual Dark Ages era. There are also new Natural Wonders added for the game in this scenario. Players can play as Harald Hardrada of Norway, King Canute of the Danes or Olof Skotkonung of Sweden in this scenario.

Both DLCs cost $4.99 each. For players who bought the Digital Deluxe edition of Civilization VI, the Poland civilization and Vikings scenario are free. To know more on the Winter Update, check out the full patch notes here.
