Samsung Galaxy S8 And S8 Plus Specs: Optical Finger Print Sensor And Other Features You Don’t Know

Samsung is known to bring the greatest flagship, quality smartphones. However, after the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, Samsung is working enthusiastically towards the next release of Galaxy S8 series to win back its trust.

The First Handset

Both the handsets shall do away with the bezel area by removing the home button and the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor from there. The giant plans to embed the sensor under the display screen making it the first ever phone featuring an optical fingerprint sensor. The sensor can, therefore, work well even under glass. Moreover, it would lead to a 20 percent increase in the screen to body ratio.

VR Oriented

Samsung is opting out for full-screen AMOLED display. The Galaxy 8 and eight Plus will feature a 5.1-5.2 inch and 5.5-inch displays with 4K resolution (3840x2160). It comes with Exynos 8995 processor and 16 nm Mali-G71 GPU. So the Galaxy S8 series will be the fastest devices in 2017. All this features clearly indicate that the company is looking forward to working with Google Day Dream and its VR headset.

Special Features

The sets are provided with Android and Samsung Pay which will help the users to pay for online transactions quickly. However, this feature questions the existence of the much awaited Optical Finger Print sensor because it is easy to fool around. Therefore, speculations of a rear panel mounted scanner and an onscreen UI navigator instead of an optical fingerprint scanner may be possible.

It can also mean that if Samsung Pay and Optical Fingerprint Sensor are both available, then the security is enhanced with a powerful iris scanner.

5G Enabled

These are the handsets supporting the 5G. Though most of the countries are not going to the 5G soon, the United States and South Korea are launching the 5G service. So these handsets will be particularly more useful to them.

Other Features

Every release of Galaxy series smartphone comes with advancement in the camera specifications. Samsung Galaxy S8 series with a 30 mp rear and nine mp front cameras will feature a dual camera sensor.

The Android Auto app will enable the users to access different apps from the car displays directly. It will include a whopping 6 GB RAM and Snapdragon Qualcomm Octa-core 3, 2 GHz Processor.

With 64 and 128 GB internal memory, these sets have come up with two expandable micro SD card slots. There will be no flat screen variants of Galaxy S8 series with both the handsets featuring a curved edge display.

The body will be covered with Corning Gorilla glass (both front and back outer bodies) making it most durable. Rumors of these glass bodies to be water resistant may or may not be true.

The Take Home

The Galaxy Note7 fiasco may have turned down the trust on this giant a bit. The Galaxy S8 is all set to win it back with the company promising a 50% reduction in the S8 sets in exchange of the updated Galaxy Note7. Therefore both Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus give us a reason to await their release eagerly around Feb-Mar 2017.
