Beardsmen and so called ‘stache-thletes’ from America won six first places and 16 trophies overall at the 2013 World Beard and Moustache Championships. The competition was held in Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany on Saturday.

Juff Langum won first place in the category of Full Beard Natural. He sports more than 17 inches of natural beard.

“It happens,” Oana Langum told USA Today. “We usually do a check after he eats where we look through it, fluff it out, and stuff falls.”

In his first national competition at National Beard Championship, the web designer from Voorhees, N.J., won overall Best in Show which was a $1,000 prize.

“It’s actually like a dog show,” said Langum to USA Today. “It’s run just like a dog show, with all these different categories.”

“You walk out, dada-dada-dada, you do a little something, and then you meet the judges.”

Oana Langum is a 39 year old web designer and father of two.

Other first place winners are Patrick Fette in the category of ‘English Moustache’. Dan Lawlor secured first for ‘Freestyle Moustache’, Sean Raiger for ‘Fu Manchu’ and Burke Kenny in the category of ‘Full Beard’ and ‘Styled Moustache’. In the category of ‘Full Beard Freestyle’, Aarne Bielefeldt was at the first place.
