A giant mushroom that weighs more than 33 pounds and measures 36 inches in diameter was recently discovered in China's Yunnan province.

The gargantuan fungus may be one of the largest mushrooms ever discovered.

Locals in the township of Puxiong who discovered the strange specimen put the mushroom on display.

The gray mushroom, which has more than 100 caps attached to its thick stem, has garnered a lot of attention since its discovery. However, it is still unclear what type of mushroom it is or if it is edible.

"I guess this mushroom can be entered into the Guinness World Records," said one woman as she snapped a photograph of the giant mushroom, according to The Telegraph.

While the locals believe their latest discovery might be a world record breaker, the world's largest living organism is a 2,400-year-old fungus that spreads out over 2,200 acres in Oregon's Malheur National Forest, according to The Independent.
