Most times, people concentrate on physical health when talking about well-being. However, there is more to it than that. Aside from the increasingly recognized mental and emotional health, there are also several other factors that contribute to a person's overall well-being. Experts have identified eight dimensions of wellness.

1. Emotional

Emotional well-being refers to the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one's emotions effectively. People with high emotional well-being tend to experience positive emotions more frequently and have better-coping strategies for dealing with negative emotions.

2. Physical

Physical well-being encompasses aspects such as nutrition, exercise and overall health. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle not only improves physical health but also contributes significantly to mental well-being.

3. Social

Social well-being reflects the quality of a person's relationships and social interactions. Strong social connections, supportive networks, and a sense of belonging are crucial for overall well-being.

4. Financial

Financial well-being pertains to a person's perceived financial security and satisfaction with their financial situation. It includes factors such as income, savings and financial planning.

5. Occupational

Occupational well-being relates to one's satisfaction and fulfillment in their work or chosen occupation. Finding purpose, engagement and a sense of accomplishment in one's professional life is essential for overall well-being.

6. Intellectual

Intellectual well-being involves continuous learning, growth, and stimulation of the mind. Engaging in intellectually stimulating activities, pursuing personal interests and expanding knowledge contribute to intellectual well-being.

7. Environmental

Environmental well-being encompasses the relationship between people and their surroundings. A clean, safe and sustainable environment fosters a sense of well-being and connection to nature.

8. Spiritual

Spiritual well-being pertains to the search for meaning, purpose and transcendence in life. It involves exploring one's beliefs, values and existential questions, which can provide a sense of inner peace and fulfillment.
