A lot of people lie about their age, and this is simply part of normal human interaction. It is socially acceptable for a person to lie about their age, but why do people do it anyway?

Therefore, individuals lie about their age to align with societal notions of vitality.

Want more time

Time, an immutable force, affects everyone. Studies show that happy people generally have more time, which is why some people pay others to do things they do not want to do, so they can use their time on something more meaningful for them -- in essence, they are buying time. 

Some may lie about their age to buy more time, both personally and professionally. People perceive age-related deadlines more critically than chronological age itself. Lying about one's age becomes a strategy to extend opportunities and timelines.

The human ego, a delicate yet powerful aspect, contributes to age-related deception. The ego protects self-esteem, and admitting to advancing age may challenge one's self-perception. Thus, individuals may fib about their age to maintain a positive self-image.

In a competitive world, age can be a perceived disadvantage. Individuals may lie about their age to gain a competitive edge in various spheres, from the job market to social relationships, where youth is often associated with dynamism and innovation.

Vanity

The pursuit of beauty and aesthetic appeal is deeply ingrained in human nature. Some people lie about their age to align with societal standards. Vanity, intertwined with perceptions of youthfulness, drives some to manipulate their age for a more favorable image.
