The new book is titled "Dolly on Dolly," which is edited by Randy L. Schmidt. In the book, Parton has been struggling with her mental health in the year 1980s. She shared that she was on the verge of committing suicide, until her dog Popeye made her come to her senses, as reported by E! News.

It is indicated that the book also talks about the singer's childhood. The story then moves on to how Dolly Parton coped up with the struggles in life. She also has undergone some mental health issues that she tried to cope up as she matured.

Parton also experienced depression, that led her to binge in eating. This has been because of a broken heart, caused by an unnamed lover.

At this time, the singer gained a lot of weight. She was so challenged at that time, that it almost led her to end her life, according to AOL.
