And then the next blow came when another major star, Shemar Moore left the show towards the end of season 11. There were reports that two new regular members will be added to the cast as replacements; Adam Rodriguez, to play the role of Luke Alvez, an FBI agent, and Damon Gupton to portray the character of Stephen Walker, a special agent.

Meanwhile, another fan-favorite character, Paget Brewster was also brought in to portray the character of Emily Prentiss. Even Aisha Tyler, who is seen in the role of Dr. Tara Lewis, was promoted as a regular in the series.

It looks like the much-anticipated comeback of Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore) will only be happening in the finale episode of "Criminal Minds" Season 12, Canada.com wrote. It is being said that Derek will act as Reid's savior by bringing a lead, which will eventually prove that Reid is innocent.
