‘Deep Blue Sea 2’ Was About To Happen; Know Why The Sequel Was Cancelled

Warner Premiere had a plan to make a sequel to “Deep Blue Sea” but later,  no updates came from the production house in support of it. Although, movie critics consider “Jaws” (which was a super hit movie in the 80s) as the best shark film ever made in the history of filmography, it later sprawled three sequels. Whereas, “Deep Blue Sea” is still not able to get any sequel in the last two decades of its release.

Why Was “Deep Blue Sea 2” So Far Not Possible?

The basic problem for not approaching a sequel to “Deep Blue Sea” is indeed how the director and producer will do it without repeating “Jaws.” Duncan Kennedy, the writer of the original 1999 super hit movie, earlier already revealed to The Los Angeles Times that the shark was 25 feet long in “Jaws” and to overcome it they had increased the shark to 26 feet for “Deep Blue Sea.”

In an interview with Birth Movies Death, Jack Perez recently spoke about the “Deep Blue Sea” sequel that he once wrote the script after getting the offer years back. Warner Premiere had a plan to make a sequel and Jack Perez was hired to simultaneously write and direct the film.

He was thought perfect for the movie for his 2009 hit “Mega Shark Versus Giant Octopus” movie. But later Warner Bros stopped working on it.

Making Of “Deep Blue Sea 2” Was Suddenly Canceled

Jack Perez further said that they were very glad with the script and he already started coming across varied special effect facilities and the production house was on the verge of casting. Although the budget for the movie was relatively low, they still discontinued the project mainly because the DVD sales were suffering at that time, reports Movie Web.
