Update Date: Mar 20, 2017 09:22 PM EDT

Viewers will be glad to know that they will see a familiar face return in the finale episode of "Criminal Minds" Season 12. Get to know if  Shemar Moore's Derek Morgan will return as a savior for the BAU.

Derek Morgan Appears As Savior For BAU In "Criminal Minds" Season 12

Mr. Scratch has been a constant source of irritation for the BAU all through "Criminal Minds" Season 12. There are people like Prentiss (Paget Brewster) who are convinced that he is the person behind Reid's (Matthew Gray Gubler) terrible situation, The Christian Post wrote.

But, as of date, the BAU has not been able to catch Mr. Scratch since there is no concrete evidence of his involvement in Reid getting arrested for murder. However, it appears that the finale episode of season 12 will see the BAU finally closing on the actual culprit, thanks to Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore).

Viewers have been missing Moore in the current season of the show. There have been discussions about how his appearance can bring Reid out of his horrible predicament since the two were close like brothers. And it seems Derek is someone the BAU can rely on.

Shemar Moore Returns To Reprise His Role In "Criminal Minds" Season 12

The actor left the show after the conclusion of its tenth season. But he is now all set to reprise the role of Derek when the current season ends. From the looks of it, he will have a crucial role to play in the finale. Derek appears to have the solution that can help the BAU to finally take down Mr. Scratch (Bodhi Elfman).

Meanwhile, CBS came out with a press release for the finale of season 12, which suggested that Derek Morgan will bring forward a vital lead that will help in building up a case against the serial killer who has been troubling the BAU for quite some time now.

Though Derek was not on the scene, apparently he kept a close tab with his colleagues so that he could collect information on the killer to put him behind bars.

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 finale episode is slated to air at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10 on CBS.
