The release date of "Wentworth" Season 5 was officially announced. There are a couple of mini teasers that hint at what can be expected in episode 1 of the upcoming season.

The anticipation among fans has now been building up for several months, as the finale episode of season 4 was aired several months back. The inevitability of Bea's death cannot be ignored anymore, as can be seen from two teasers that were recently posted on the official Facebook page of "Wentworth."

Viewers who are following the show are aware that Bea Smith is no more. But, will the new season take things up from where it ended in the previous season or is there going to be a time jump?

According to the teasers, "Wentworth" Season 5 Episode 1 could showcase a time jump. But this jump may not be a significant one, since it puts Allie Novak (Kate Jenkinson) back behind bars with Joan.

The Showcase blog hinted that viewers may find answers to several questions in the premiere episode of season 5. These include whether Joan will be imprisoned for good or not, as well as the relationship status of Bridget and Frankie, Sonia and Liz's relationship, and Maxine's baby.

"Wentworth" Season 5 Episode 1 Could Be About Revenge

In a latest season 5 teaser on YouTube, Allie Novak is spotted mourning the death of Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack). Incidentally, Bea had been her lover and she refuses to keep quiet about what happened.

On the other hand, Joan Ferguson (Pamela Rabe) could die in the upcoming season, while the other inmates support Allie, The Christian Post noted. The teaser focuses on the line "Revenge will set them free". Is this indicating that Allie will try to take her revenge in the new season? Will Allie succeed in her mission in season 5?

"Wentworth" Season 5 is slated to premiere on Apr. 4 on the Showcase channel.
