Amazon To Improve Amazon Alexa; Here's What We Know So Far

By Mae Miller | Update Date: Mar 07, 2017 09:04 AM EST

Amazon will launch a new update for Amazon Alexa. Let's find out what this new update on the product has to offer.

What Is Amazon Alexa?

Amazon Alexa is an exceptional personal assistant developed by Amazon Lab126. This device is the successor of the Amazon Echo.

It is proficient on voice interplay, music playback, creating to-do lists, and additional real-time information. Alexa can also manage some smart gadgets, utilizing itself as a home mechanization core.

The Alexa Fund Fellowship Program

Amazon will improve Amazon Alexa for the benefit of students and researchers who are focusing on voice-related technologies, such as text to speech and automatic voice recognition. The program will be called the Alexa Fund Fellowship.

The program was announced by Douglas Booms, the company's vice president for development. The announcement was made last Mar. 2. According to his statement, their teams at Amazon are working vigorously to open that potential, but change requires a cooperative endeavor, from large organizations like ours to two-person startups, and from casual hobbyists to larger academic establishments, as reported by HUB. John Hopkins University is one of the partners of Amazon in this new project. They built a group called the Alexa fellow.

Who Will Have Access To This Program?

Alexa Fund Fellows will receive funding, admittance to Alexa devices, and guidance from an Alexa science team professional to improve programs and analysis, concentrating on voice technologies such as text-to-speech, essential language processing, automated speech recognition, and conversational artificial intelligence. At the completion of the year-long curriculum, there will be a demo day for scholars to present the Alexa team, teachers, and their colleagues what they've finished, as reported by WireGeek.

Amazon has long endeavored to crowdsource the progress of Alexa, which latterly topped 10,000 abilities. Amazon chose to open the digital brain up to developers and device manufacturers two years ago.
