It is truly an exceptional year for Casey Affleck. The younger brother of Ben Affleck has been receiving awards for his performance in "Manchester By The Sea" and recently took home the Academy Award for Best Actor. However, all the success is not without some controversy. Social media is filled with negative reaction to Affleck's Oscar win, with most people saying that someone accused of sexual assault should not be given such honor.

It's hard to ignore such brutal comments, but Casey Affleck appears to be taking it all in stride. The "Manchester By The Sea" star has finally spoken up about the sexual assault allegations and how all the negative publicity will not bring him down after he won the Oscar for Best Actor.

Casey Affleck spoke to The Boston Globe (via HollywoodLife) about the sexual harassment allegations that were filed against him in 2010 (they settled out of court). According to the Oscar winner, he thinks that is "unacceptable and abhorrent" that a person would receive "any kind of mistreatment."

In addition to that, Affleck stated that people should be "treated with respect in the workplace and everywhere else." Otherwise, the "Manchester By The Sea" star chooses to ignore all the negativity, saying he can't do anything about it. Casey Affleck's Oscar win was made more controversial by the fact that the award was presented by Brie Larson.

The "Kong: Skull Island" actress has previously won Best Actress for her performance as a sexual assault survivor in "Room" and has been a huge supporter for women who have suffered the same fate. Larson showed little sign of distress when she announced that the "Manchester By The Sea" actor won the Best Actor award (via YouTube). However, the "Captain Marvel" star firmly refused to applaud as Affleck gave his acceptance speech.
