Manny Pacquiao Wants Brit Amir Khan As Next Opponent

A 38-year-old former eight-division champ titleholder Manny Pacquiao said last Wednesday night (Feb. 22) that his team is negotiating his next fight to be against with Britain's Amir Khan.

The organizers need to stump up $38 million (£30 million) to make this fight happen. The said opponent is a 30-year-old former light-welterweight champion. Michael Koncz, advisor of Manny Pacquaio fronted the media that the next fight will be held in the United Arab of Emirates according to Fox Sports.

Manny Pacquiao Vs Jeff Horn

Pacman was already scheduled to fight Jeff Horn in Australia on this coming Apr 22 but Amir Khan hopes to jump, according to Forbes. Manny's legal advisor Michael Koncz did apologize to the Australian publicly, for the confusion. He explained that the UAE is their first choice and their "back-up plan" is Brisbane. The coming fight will likely be in the welterweight (147 pounds) category - possibly as early as this coming April.

Bob Arum Speaks About Issue

Manny Pacquiao's US promoter Bob Arum said that the deal with the Australian is not going to happen because Manny is trying to have a fight in United Arab Emirates. He also said May 20 is not a possible date for the fight because there is a senate session in the Philippines, wherein Manny Pacquiao is one of the senators. It could be April or June but not May this year. Arum also confirmed that when the money will $38 million, that is the time he will take the role as a promoter. He also include that the fight is going to happen or not.

Freddie Roach, the enduring boxing coach of Manny Pacquiao. Amir Khan oftentimes flew to Baguio City in order to be with Manny and pursue working with the coach. Pacquaio and Khan became training partners at Freddie Roach's Wildcard gym in Los Angeles.
