NBA 2017 Latest Trade News & Update: Miami Heat Can Pull Last Minute Deal For Goran Dragic

The Miami Heat have been quiet on any potential NBA trade so team president Pat Riley could be content with the progress of his squad. Then again, he could be quietly mapping out something and this could include one of his top stars – Goran Dragic.

The Slovenian is no stranger to potential NBA trade talk. Then again so was DeMarcus Cousins before the Sacramento Kings made that surprise move to send him to the New Orleans Pelicans. The cases may vary but Pat Riley is capable of anything involving big time players. Dragic, tasked to pick off from where Dwyane Wade left off, has hardly fit into the role perfectly.

Looking ahead, the Heat may need to pull some strings if they want to rekindle their winning ways, Hoops Habit suggested. At the moment, the Heat are within striking distance of an NBA playoff spot. There is still time, but even if they do reach the magic 8, they are likely to get booted out at some point. Once that happens, a re-evaluation on where the team stands will be done. They will skim free agency and likely dangle something to high-profile players.

But with Goran Dragic carrying a hefty salary, the player of their choice could be limited. Assuming a trade is entertained, there are teams who could put Dragic to good use, the List includes teams such as the Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans, Orlando Magic, Sacramento Kings and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Of the mix, the Pelicans and the Sixers are in dire need of a veteran guard so the Slovenian could be a good fit. If the available talent is thin, Riley could pass up and wait. That could mean sticking to the current rebuilding mode and save the moves for the summer, the Miami Herald reported. It is looming to be that way, but never discount anything until the clock strikes on Feb. 23.
