NBA Trade 2017 Latest News & Update: Chicago Bulls On What To Offer For Jahlil Okafor
The Chicago Bulls have interest on Jahlil Okafor of the Philadelphia 76ers though nothing has prospered to date. It seems the Bulls are still undecided on what to offer for the sophomore, reportedly a choice between future picks or some of their current players.
As far as the players being offered, the word out is that the Bulls are thinking of offering Robin Lopez and Doug McDermott to the Sixers. Seeing that the Sixers are actually dealing off Okafor because of a cramped frontline, adding Lopez would not make sense. But then again, he could be part of the deal and eventually waived, meaning the big man would eventually get the choice to play somewhere else once he clears waivers.
Doug McDermott, on the other hand, could come in handy. The Sixers do have Nik Stauskas and Gerald Henderson in the wings, even Timothe Luwawu-Cabaret too. So the best question to dish is whether the 25-year-old would be a better player over the Sixers current personnel. If he proves to be fit, he could end up being more of a reprieve with his long-term value questioned, CSN Chicago reported.
Hence, the focus here would be the picks involved. Chicago currently owns two first round picks for the 2017 NBA Draft so the Sixers could use that to target a guard or forward this year. There are no scouting reports yet in the 2017 draft class but whoever they take in will still lack the experience.
That said, it brings us back to the McDermott exchange for Jahlil Okafor. McDermott is technically not categorized as a veteran though he holds some playing year edge over the incoming freshmen. All that depends on the assessment of Bryan Colangelo who is exploring his options for Okafor. Aside from the Bulls, the Pelicans are also in the hunt for the 21-year-old player, USA Today reported.
