NBA 2017 Latest News & Updates: Julius Randle Continues To Seek Advice From Kobe Bryant

Kobe Bryant made headlines recently following a tweet by Los Angeles Lakers president and co-owner Jeanie Buss. It seems that Buss has been quietly working on getting old Laker players to the fold, the most recent of which is Magic Johnson. With the meeting, there are speculations that the “Black Mamba” could be next.

Kobe Bryant hinted prior that he would be open to lending a hand if the Lakers needed it. All it needs is one phone call and he will come running. Since retiring, Kobe has been busy with family life. While he doesn’t miss the game, it seems that he is still hooked to it somehow. Proof of that is the recent revelation of Julius Randle.

Randle had the privilege of playing alongside Bryant before the latter retired after the 2015-16 NBA season. Bryant was one of the voices trying to guide the young guns though he was tasked to try and win games for then head coach Byron Scott. That alone overshadowed the mentoring Bryant was supposed to give, totally alleviating the rebuilding process.

Luke Walton came in to set the records straight. Compared to the two-year service of Scott, there is no question Walton is truly rebuilding the franchise. And Bryant? It turns out that he and Randle are still communicating and talk about the game they both love. The forward consults some things such as a team or player the Lakers would be playing, useful tips which are part of Randle’s routine preparation as discussed on The Vertical Podcast (via iTunes) last Feb. 8.

Before Randle was sidelined due to illness, most saw how he impressed on the court. Could Kobe have had a hand in that? The fact that Randle consults the retired Laker shows how much respect and trust one has on the “Black Mamba”, Lakers Nation reported. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising if other players did the same. Tying that up with the Jeanie Buss meeting, could he be in line for a front office job soon?
