Jon Bernthal Continues Shooting For 'The Punisher', Frank Castle Possibly Not Appearing In 'The Defenders'

There is little doubt that The Punisher was one of the best things about "Daredevil" Season 2, which explains why Marvel fans are really looking forward to Jon Bernthal's solo Netflix series. The former star of "The Walking Dead" is currently working on his own show, but is it possible that Bernthal will make an appearance as Frank Castle in "Marvel's The Defenders" as well? There are speculations that the vigilante will not be joining Matt Murdock, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

Fans went crazy when it was confirmed that Jon Bernthal has started filming for "The Punisher" solo series. Interestingly, Frank Castle's show began production around the same time as "Marvel's The Defenders", leading to speculations that Bernthal might also show up in the superhero series. However, it looks like Frank will not be teaming up with Matt and his fellow Defenders this year.

New photos of Jon Bernthal have been making their rounds on social media. The Twitter images show the actor running around in a hoodie, with one picture seemingly showing Frank Castle coming out of a police car. However, all photos seem to suggest that "The Punisher" will be completely separate from "Marvel's The Defenders".

There is a huge possibility that The Punisher will not be in town when Matt Murdock, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist decide to team up in "The Defenders". After all, Frank Castle had decided to go off on his own at the conclusion of "Daredevil" Season 2. Nevertheless, there is still hope that Jon Bernthal could reunite with the Devil of Hell's Kitchen in the third season of "Daredevil" next year.

Netflix has not yet announced the air dates for "The Punisher" and "The Defenders". Both Marvel shows are still expected to premiere later in 2017.
