NBA Trade 2017 Latest News & Update: New York Knicks Need To Transition Less Carmelo Anthony, Derrick Rose

The New York Knicks have had an erratic ride despite the entry of new talent. The only problem with the new guys is that they don’t carry the young legs that can last a season healthy. Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah are tested players but do have their bouts in sick bay. Moving forward, the Knicks will need to bring in promising new players, which means trading up to the vets at some point.

The moves, if made, are not limited to Rose and Noah. Carmelo Anthony has had his struggles with the Knicks and most of that was compounded with a jab that he is being lured to Cleveland. Phil Jackson had a one-on-one with the scoring forward where Anthony assured his loyalty to New York, Sports Illustrated reported. That could hold up for now but will it remain as the NBA moves along?

Despite a load of talent, the Knicks find themselves outside the NBA playoff circle. Head coach Jeff Hornacek has taken some of the heat with his tactics as stars took exception of their diminished roles. True enough, guys like Rose, Anthony, and Brandon Jennings are being paid to be on the floor. But with poor results, Hornacek may be looking at other guys to step up – not for now but for the future.

The ploy could be considered tanking which may not work to Hornacek’s advantage. But then again, it makes a bit of sense. Anthony, Rose and other tested vets don’t have the luxury of time. At some point, they may opt out and join teams like the Cavs or even the Golden State Warriors for lesser pay.

Unless the Knicks are able to come up with a team that can unseat powerful teams like the Cavs, another revamp is expected. This time, however, it may include the cutting of ties with the gathered stars, the NY Daily News reported. It is not exactly comforting but a reality that Knicks owner James Dolan may eventually turn to.
