Kratos' son will be seen in the upcoming "God of War 4" for PlayStation 4 and the kid's name is now revealed. In a post by the game's director Cory Barlog, he unveiled the character's name to be Atreus.

Carlog commended a fan that discovered the child's name in the comment section of the "God of War 4" E3 2016 Overture MP3 file. In his post on Twitter, he confirmed that Kratos son's name is Atreus and showed the photo of the file's details. "Kratos son's name is Atreus, nice discovery," he said.

After Sony announced that Sony Santa Monica is now busy developing a new "God of War 4" game at E3 2016, the upcoming title will be only playable on PlayStation 4. According to IGN, it will be a single-player only experience and won't be Kratos' final game. Evidently, the game's antagonist will maintain his Greek legacy as noticed on his son's name, Atreus.

Moreover, Greek mythology fans may be familiar with the name Atreus as he is the son of Pelops, the grandson of Zeus. Their relation with Kratos is not that far as the "God of War 4" lead character is one of the illegitimate sons of Zeus. Atreus just suddenly went away after he killed one of his brothers and eventually became the king of Mycenae while on his journey.

However, is it not clear if Atreus will be portraying the same character he has in the Greek mythology to the upcoming "God of War 4" gameplay, GamesRadar reported. The action-adventure video game series has been using mythological names and interpretations and these are evidently seen in "God of War 3" where Kratos tore Helios' head and used it as a flashlight. Furthermore, gamers haven't heard anything about Atreus' late mother, thus some are looking forward to seeing her backstory and how she really died.
