‘Pokemon Go’ Latest News & Update: Niantic Issues Minor Update, Easter Event Teased

“Pokemon Go” has gone quiet since the Holidays ended with Niantic probably taking some time off. The daily quests are still around together with the improved tracking system. A minor update was rolled out recently, something that included minor text fixes which are tied up to the Pokemon Eggs. Could this minor update be preparation for Easter?

The update that came out was 0.53.1 for Android and 1.23.1 for iOS versions of “Pokemon Go”. The new patches do offer something to Apple Watch owners, allowing the smart wearables to display Pokemon Eggs obtained from PokeStops, Slash Gear reported. At first, it may mean nothing but to improve the interface involving the Apple Watch.

But then again, it could be all part of getting eggs in other locations other than the usual PokeStops. Speaking of “Pokemon Go” eggs, it does bring up a possible event on Niantic’s end. With Spring almost here, Easter comes to mind. Associating Easter Eggs with the “Pokemon Go” eggs, there is a chance that augmented reality gamers could be in for another treat.

Other than goodies and rewards, there is a chance that the eggs would come in different designs and themes. Some of the egg designs can be found here courtesy of DeviantArt user Ivyna Spyder. To date, there is no word if Niantic will indeed be holding an Easter-run event though it seems to be one of the better known holidays celebrated.

Aside from those, there is one update that could draw the ire of some “Pokemon Go” players. There have reportedly been changes made to distance tracking which could pose a problem to folks who keep their smartphones logged on and for long spells. There will be no more GPS Drift alternatives to fool the game into recording distances, forcing most to play the game in real time the way it should be.
