The return of "The Night Of" Season 2 is not yet confirmed, but it would definitely see the light of day. In fact, HBO programming president Casey Bloys revealed that the show's showrunners are now thinking what the second chapter would be like.

The crime drama television series' creators Richard Price and Steven Zaillian are now trading their ideas for the potential "The Night Of" Season 2. Bloys, too, positively thinks that the two can perfectly "crack the case." He even teased that the duo will come to them when they already have an idea that they are excited about, according to Yahoo TV.

"Steve and Richard are throwing around ideas. I'm hopeful they will land on something," Bloys told TVLine. He also knows that if these two don't have anything yet in mind, they are going to take every time they have to make it perfectly 100 percent sure. With that, he assured the showrunners that they would always be around whenever they are ready.

Moreover, it has been said that "The Night Of" Season 2 will still have the same settings like the first chapter. Hence, fans won't see an "American Crime-style reset." Bloys cleared that they won't be suddenly moving to Chicago or another city for the show's filming. But, there might be casting overlap involved. Although he refused to reveal whom among the original characters will return, some believe that John Turturro will be back to reprise his role as John Stone along with his cat.

Meanwhile, the release of "The Night Of" Season 2 might take a little while just like its predecessor. The first episode of the previous chapter was filmed in 2012 and has been in the works for the past four years before it was finally introduced. So, if this timeline will be followed, it will be a long wait for a lot of fans.
