Nintendo Switch News & Update: Pre-Order Begins Tomorrow In New York City; Here's What You Need To Know

It's going to be a great weekend for New York City residents, as the Nintendo Switch pre-order launches tomorrow, January 13. Nintendo NYC took to Twitter to share the news, which has gotten gamers ready to shell out as much cash as they can for the upcoming hybrid video game console.

As Tech Radar reported, only a limited number of Nintendo Switch pre-orders will be accommodated tomorrow in New York City. Those who want to get their hands on the hybrid video game console should be there as early as 9 a.m. to secure their Nintendo Switch pre-order. So far, no other retailers have confirmed that they are holding a pre-order sale for the console as well.

Gamers are warned that this "limited quantity" will mean that the Nintendo Switch pre-order may sell out real quickly. The same happened with the NES Classic, which is to this day, sold out in most retailers. It looks like Nintendo intentionally produced a limited amount of NES Classic consoles to make sure that one, they all get sold, and two, they can determine just exactly how in demand the product will be.

The idea of the Nintendo Switch was first made public when the company announced the partnership between Nintendo and DeNA back in March 2015. In April last year, they confirmed the target release date for the Nintendo Switch to be this March. According to VG247, gamers who are looking to take part of the Nintendo Switch pre-order should bring their cash handy, as there's no word on whether they'll accept credit cards or not.

According to CNET, the company will also hold a live video webcast tonight at 8 p.m. PT / 11 p.m. ET for the Nintendo Switch. There will also be another presentation tomorrow at 6:30 a.m. PT / 9:30 a.m. ET to showcase the system's lineup of games.
