A night of intense drinking often leads to an intake of fatty and salty food. Most will prefer anything with flavors of cheese to accompany the drink of their choice, but is this really all right?

However, a new survey reveals the issues and risks of excessive alcohol consumption and its correlation with overeating. The survey's goal is to raise awareness about alcohol and obesity.

According to Medical Daily, the survey found that consumption of more than three glasses of wine has a possibility of causing people to intake around 6,300 extra calories in the next 24 hours. The alcohol also makes food consumption feel even more rewarding, and according to the head of nutrition and research at Slimming World that commissioned the research from YouGov, Jacquie Lavin, makes food taste better than they would normally do.

An estimate of almost a half of the people who were involved in the study said that the excessive alcohol consumption led to an increased intake of fast food, which would most likely lead them to cancel their exercise plan the next day.

Excessive alcohol drinking often leads to being hungover the morning after and would cause a person to just want to stay in bed for the entirety of the day. A hungover person may also stay at home at watch TV, while also bingeing on an extra 2,051 calories which could likely lead to gaining 2 lbs. a week.

A nutritionist at the British Nutrition Foundation, Bridget Benelam found the survey very interesting, in a report by the BBC. Benelam also added that while the information does come in the form of a survey and not a scientific study, it is still as useful as it is based on har science. This also gets the message of what people are thinking in the real world.
