It has been noticed in America that legal access to Marijuana is growing. Twenty states in the US allow some form of legal access to medical cannabis.

Scientists believe that marijuana contains compounds which have biological effects on the human body. From a medical point of view, cannabis can be prescribed for physical ailments including cancer symptoms, arthritis, depression, and anxiety.

Time reported that a team of researchers in US and Canada conducted a research on Marijuana's potential mental health benefits. Their report was published in the journal named Clinical Psychology Review. These researchers found that cannabis can benefit patients suffering from social anxiety, depression, and PDST. They also found that cannabis might not be good for those suffering from bipolar disorders.

In fact, cannabis is a substance that has a potential use for mental health. This may help in dealing with addiction.  It has a potential substitution effect. If people start using this substance as a replacement for opioid medications some dramatic public health benefits can be witnessed.

It is a fact that presently the level of opioid overdoses is very high. Hence there is evidence to support the potential of cannabis.

Another study suggests that marijuana has the capacity to curb the opioid epidemic. But it is very hard to study marijuana in the United States because it is classified as schedule 1 drug, which clarifies that it has a high potential for abuse.

Scientists opine that such a classification of marijuana hampers research but the medical potential of this substance merits further exploration. More studies will help in eliminating the stigma associated with this drug. It would further help in more and better study of this substance.

Like any other drug, pot might have side effects and researchers recommend that all aspects of cannabis whether benefits or potential harms need a further exploration.
