'Avatar 2' has been long pending since the huge success of its predecessor, 'Avatar,' released in 2009. Numerous reasons have been cited for causing the delay of the sequel.

First and foremost, the cast of 'Avatar 2' has been said to delay the production of the film. Reports suggest some key players in the original movie are having problems negotiating their talent fees with the makers.

Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington have been particularly noted for asking a hike in their talent fee. Rumor has it that the two just might get fired from playing the pivotal roles in the sequel because of their demand for higher terms of payment. It is said that the two actors stated that they would not report to the set of 'Avatar 2' until their demand is met and the producers made a formal offer aligning to it.

Responding on this matter, James Cameron reportedly said that he is not sure whether they can give in to their demands in terms of fees because 'Avatar 2' has a limited budget. If this is the situation, then Saldana and Worthington may not star in the sequel.

Cameron is said to have now put more focus on the characters of Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Langin the sequel to 'Avatar.' The two have already been confirmed for 'Avatar 2.'

Speaking on the plot of 'Avatar 2,' Cameron said in an interview with Variety back in September that the sequel would lean more towards family adventure genre. The plot will thus focus on Jake and Neytiri and their children. In short, 'Avatar 2' will detail the avatar family's experience and struggle against the humans.

Cameron recently talked to Society of Motion Pictures and Television engineers about pushing for a cinematic 3D experience for 'Avatar 2' without the 3D glasses, Independent reported.

"I'm still very bullish on 3D, but we need brighter projection, and ultimately I think it can happen- with no glasses. We'll get there," Cameron said.

'Avatar 2' is targeted for a 2018 release
