Serie A 2016-2017: Palermo And AC Milan Will Lock Horns With Contrasting Track Records

Technically, it's not a match that will excite many. For US Citta di Palermo, it will be a soccer game they will eye to win to avoid a relegation in 2016-17 Italian Serie A season at their home ground - Renzo Barbera Stadium on Sunday (Nov 6).

Though for Palermo who are ranked 19th out of 20 teams at the moment with six points in 11 matches (one win, seven losses, three draws), it will be an uphill task against AC Milan, placed third with 22 points in as many matches (seven wins, three losses, one draw). Only Juventus and AS Roma have a better rank than Milan.

In terms of the recent track record, Palermo has not won even one of their last six encounters (just one draw) while AC Milan has won four of their last six (one loss, one draw), as this Sky Sports report shows. Will it be a match or mismatch? The question looms large.

Palermo's last and the only win this season was against Atalanta in September. They won that game by a solitary goal.

In their last match played on Monday (Oct 31), Palermo lost 1-2 to the newly promoted side Cagliari. Milan, on the other hand, defeated Pescara 1-0 in their last match played on Sunday (Oct 30). This win not only brought Milan back on the track after their 0-3 defeat against Genoa but also took them to the third position in the table. After an ordinary start to this season, Vincenzo Montella's men have remained unbeaten in seven of their last eight games.

So basically, these two teams have a completely contrasting history ahead of their locking horns at Palermo's home ground.

According to a report in Yibada.com, AC Milan is predicted to win Sunday's game 3-1.

If AC Milan wins this game, it will be their fourth successive one over Palmero while the latter's last victory against Milan came exactly two years ago. In the last 10 matches that they have met, AC Milan have won six while Palmero won just two. Two matches have been drawn.
