The Oklahoma City Thunder are in the middle of a rebuilding. After the eight-season veteran Kevin Durant's exit for the Golden State Warriors this year, the Thunder extended their contract with Russell Westbrook for another three years for $85.7 million in August. Last year, they had retained restricted Turkish free agent Enes Kanter also on a multi-year deal and now the focus is on the core team.

Westbrook recorded 18 triple-doubles in the 2015-16 season, equaling the most in the NBA since Magic Johnson's feat in the 1981-82 season. Twenty-seven-year-old point guard Westbrook also bagged seven triple-doubles in March, the most by an NBA player in a calendar month since Michael Jordan in 1989, an NBA.com report said in August.

According to a report by Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the Thunder are now looking at extending contracts with Steven Adams and Victor Oladipo, the latter being acquired in a trade with Orlando Magic on June 26, the day of the NBA draft this year.

While the Thunder are reportedly holding talks with Adams, the 23-year-old New Zealander who has emerged as a youngster of reputation in the NBA over the past one year, on a deal worth $100 million, they are also said to be in the middle of negotiating a $80 million deal with Oladipo, 22.

According to an NBC Sports report, both Adams and Oladipo will be add more muscles to Westbrook in the Thunder who are desperately trying to remain relevant in the Western Conference.

Adams' mentor Kenny McFadden, who is based in New Zealand, told stuff.co.nz that he was confident of a resolution being reached.

"We're hoping for good news, and he's focused on controlling what he can control, which is what happens between the lines. But we're pretty sure he'll get a good package and it will be an eye-opener for everybody," McFadden said on the potential deal.
