'Supergirl' Season 2 Premiere Recap: Almost Getting Sacked Was A Blessing in Disguise?

Supergirl season 2 premiere definitely proves that almost getting sacked after season 2 was a blessing in disguise. Supergirl originated from CBS. And after a year of contemplating on what to do with a good show having decent ratings, they came up with a perfect plan: they gave it up. Well, it doesn't sound that bad because it's actually a good thing. The CW is their affiliate station armed with DC-heavy line ups. This includes The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow.

Supergirl totally fits the network. As a matter of fact, there's already been a crossover between The CW and CBS when they did Flash!Supergirl. As reported by collider.com, critics like Craig Byrne liked the show's lightness and said,"Tyler Hoechlin's premiere flight as Superman and Supergirl's CW debut are both very, very good and represent the best DC Comics television has to offer."

Ratings Don't Lie

Based on the overnight ratings, Supergirl got a 1.1 rating and 3.02 million viewers in its debut CW hour. This is similar to The Flash's ratings which garnered a 1.3 rating and 3.17 million viewers for season 3. The CW is seeing a high rise in this timeslot that used to be from the ratings of Ex-Girlfriend.

Superman to the Rescue

Okay, let's give credit where credit is due. Superman did help his cousin Supergirl in more ways than one. He drew in more viewers without snatching the limelight from our heroine. He was there to help, to charm, and yes, he was a terrific eye candy that's worth the eye strain from too much TV.

Anyway, as cited by tvline.com, he was there helping Kara save the passengers aboard the Venture. Lex Luthor plotted an evil scheme in order to kill his sister Lena. Lex's right hand John Corben strikes again. Lena surprised everyone when she proved she can handle things all by herself. This could not have been more evident when she put a bullet right through her brother's assassin.

Blossoming Romance Nipped in the Bud

Then again, you can't have everything. An exciting career as a journalist, a hero who saves the world, a girl who finds forever in James? No. Her first real date with James didn't work out. In the end, she told him that it will be best if they just stay as friends. What? Friendzone makes no exception? Saaaaad.

So the premiere looks good, the ratings are fine, let's see how it does in the succeeding episodes. For more of Supergirl season 2 latest news and updates, keep it here on Counselheal. Hit us with your feedback in the comments below.
