A woman from North Carolina who was suffering from breast cancer for the past six years has won lottery twice in the past three months. The breast cancer crusader noted that she is still in "disbelief mode" and couldn't come into terms with reality just yet.

North Carolina Education Lottery officials confirmed that Gina Short from Mecklenburg County won two lotteries this year, the latest being the "All or Nothing" prize this Wednesday. Gina and her husband who claimed her $250,000 prize amount from "All or Nothing" lately are the proud winners of one million dollars from Ultimate Millions second-chance drawing, according to The Washington Post.

Gina told the new station that she asked her husband Len Short to buy the lottery ticket couple of weeks back since she felt lucky. It is worth noting that the lucky lady won the prize beating around 2.7 million participants in the country. The duo said that they couldn't believe that it was true when the numbers on her ticket were called out on April 29.Gina said that they crosschecked the numbers on the ticket seven to eight times if she and her husband were reading it right.

"If you would have told me, in a million years I still wouldn't have believed you," Gina said when she won the lottery couple of months back. "I would have said, 'No you've got the wrong girl,' because that's what I said to them when they told me I had cancer, 'No you've got the wrong girl,'" she added.

As a matter of fact, Gina out-beat 1.2 million others to win the Ultimate Millions second-chance drawing only in February, reported People. Gina said during her past win that she has got a second chance in life and also added second chance is the one all her life was about. Len said that they will make use of the money from the lotteries for the treatment of Gina's breast cancer.

"It's not something you can put into words," Len said. "For us to have the good fortune of winning not just one big prize, but two - we are just very thankful for that," he added.
