Complete Cure For Diabetes Mellitus: A Simple Low Calorie Diet To Overcome Obesity Could Do Wonders

An eight week diet can reverse diabetes, say researchers from the Newcastle University in Britain.

Patients that suffer type 2 diabetes for 10 years or even longer can find improvement in the condition with the help of the crash diet to overcome obesity.

When body fails to produce enough insulin to balance the sugar levels in the blood or when cells fail to respond, it results in a condition referred to as Type 2 diabetes. The condition commonly seen in middle aged people is often associated with obesity, according to Mail Online.

Diabetes mellitus in severe cases could result in loss of vision, kidney failure and heart attack. The condition is also known for affecting limbs and in such cases amputation of limbs deteriorates the quality of life of the individual.

It was believed for decades that it is impossible to reverse diabetes mellitus once the patient is affected. However, recent researches shed light on the possibility of finding a cure for the condition that is seen in millions of people around the world.

Since diabetes is linked to obesity, researchers propose that clearing the fat accumulated in pancreas would help in reversing the condition completely. A low calorie diet would reportedly assist in fat removal and result in normal production of insulin, reported Business Standards.

"If a person gains more weight than they personally can tolerate, then diabetes is triggered, but if they then lose that amount of weight then they go back to normal," study leader Professor Roy Taylor said. "The bottom line is that if a person really wants to get rid of their Type 2 diabetes, they can lose weight, keep it off and return to normal," Taylor added, noted Mirror.

Taylor noted that while it is true that losing weight can reverse diabetes it is not certain if it is applicable for everyone. However, a trial involving 280 patients is expected to give answer for many such questions, Taylor added.
