Instagram came with an update earlier this month, for iOS and Android, that supported multiple accounts. Today, another update for Facebook Messenger will allow the Android users to access the same feature. The enabling of multiple accounts will allow the users to switch between accounts without signing off and on and again. One can use the multiple accounts by changing the settings under Accounts tab.
Facebook says that this feature has been added for those "share their phones and tablets with members of their family and friends." They also add that even though more than one person can use the same device for accessing their respective Facebook Messenger accounts, the chats will remain private, reported PhoneArena

For the very first time, a password will be required to open the multiple account on the app. After that, the account holder has the option to set a second layer of password if they want.

Expect an update for your Facebook Messenger any time soon, if you are an Android user. You can also try to manually update the app from Google Play Store by going to My Apps and games and enabling the check for pending updates, as reported by Engadget
