Following the lead of Uber's predictive locations and destinations for their apps, such as driver request followed by home address or office address as predicted destinations, is what Google is incorporating too. Google maps will now be able to predict the locations for its users based on their preferences. This functionality will be rolled out on Google Maps for Android today. Just like Google Now, the Driving Mode is completely proactive and a shows a map with real time traffic status on nearby roads while suggesting various alternative routes based on expected destinations. The users obviously have the option of putting in address but with each Google Maps Inquiry, the user is giving enough data to Google to predict their desired destination based on time of the day or day of the week, reports Droid Report. For example, if the user goes to the gym every day after work on weekdays, the Driving Mode will notice the trend and offer suggestions based on real time traffic scenario.

Users will have the access to Driving Mode inside the Google Maps app or they can also add Driving mode to their home screen or alternatively, make a shortcut. Over the years, software has become more predictive by collecting data from the users based on their search query and the subsequent result. However, after spending years in collecting this data, the companies like Google have become more proactive in making suggestions that influence our lives. Google wants to have the answer to your question, even before you ask a question. Driving mode in Google Maps is just one tiny step that is gearing up for larger changes, as reported by Tech Crunch. People can benefit greatly as Driving Mode saves them additional clicks and extra few minutes by giving them important information, even before they ask for it.
