Exercise Is The Best Way To Reduce And Relieve Back Pain

Exercise, of course, helps to give relief in preventing lower back pain, apart from additional knowledge about the cause of the pain, according to researchers led by Daniel Steffens from the University of Sydney in Australia.

Exercise alone can help a lot in reducing episodes of lower back pain.

"This finding raises the important issue that, for exercise to remain protective against future LBP, it is likely that ongoing exercise is required," the researchers said in a press release.

It is amazing that shoes as well as back support belts or even ergonomics do not help prevent back pain, said the study.

By studying information from 23 previous studies into 30,850 participants, scientists found that those who exercised were 35 percent less likely to suffer lower back pain and 78 percent less likely to absent themselves from work. Moreover, people who exercised and also had knowledge about their condition were 45 percent less likely to undergo the pain.

However, with regular exercise, these experiences of back pain could be reduced over time, find the researchers.

The study was published online Jan. 11 in JAMA Internal Medicine.
